Sediment of Dam Modelling

Sedimentation always becomes a general problem at all of dams built in Indonesia. It happens because as geographically, Indonesia is located in tropic area so it has two different seasons, which are rainy season and dry season. A strike climate difference happens in the extreme rainy season for about 2-3 months and in extreme dry season for 2 months makes the rock structures moldy. Besides, Indonesia is also laid in the meeting place of two ranges of juvenile mountains, which are Pacific Circum and Mediterranean Circum. Therefore, it has many volcanoes both which are still active or not. Volcanoes that are still active often suffer the increasing activity following by the excretion of materials from the earth womb in form of sand and volcanic rock, which will be a sediment transport when a rainy season comes. Not only have them, a large number of mountains also made the erosion process become faster. This final project was done by making a measurement program of dam sediment used erosion area approach and sediment transport with computer program of Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. The result from the program measurement will be compared to the manual measurement. From the comparison with the result of manual measurement, there was a finding that the program error level was under 1%. It shows that the measurement program that has been made is accurate.
