The main subject in this study are understanding the protection system of Traditional Knowledge in Indonesia, analyzing the prospect of protection management upon traditional knowledge for Indonesian economic life, and offering recommendation for the construction of new policy regarding the protection of traditional knowledge. This study is a doctrinair research . The data is secondary data, collected by literature study for both printed and electronic materials from the internet. The data was analyzed non-statistically using the content analysis technique with deductive thinking methods. This study used the juridical approach. The results of this research are 1) There are 2 ways of traditional knowledge protection system, they are using law instrument with the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) instrument and non-IPR instrument and non law instrument ; 2) IPR becomes important because of the legal protection provided to the commercial works.
