The purpose of this research is to understand the level of harmonization of poverty alleviation policies in Indonesia within the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), especially Target 1. From this research, it can be created a model policy harmonization of poverty alleviation in Indonesia in order to harmony with the Millennium Development Goals. It can also be arranged the steps that must be made by the Government for such harmonization can be realized.
To achieve these objectives, data collected by legislation and policies of poverty alleviation in Indonesia, this is then analyzed with editing analysis style. The results show that the policy of poverty alleviation in Indonesia has not harmonious with the MDG target. This is proven by the still high level of poverty in Indonesia is 16%, while the MDG’s target is 12%. Not harmony of poverty alleviation policies in Indonesia with the MDG target as a result of differences in defining poverty, which is not focused on the definition of poverty used by the MDGs. The definition of poverty according to the MDGs is those who have income less than $ 1 per day. To achieve this target, the government should make poverty alleviation of poverty by adopting a model based on the principal role of government is supported by the role of businesses, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and academics in an institutional form of the Coordinating Agency for Poverty Alleviation, which is directly responsible to the president.
While waiting is formed and the operation of the agency, it is important to be done by the government in poverty alleviation in order to harmonious with the MDG target is to open job-width corresponding to the expertise of the poor, such as opening the plantation, aquaculture, while empowering them.
