The hybrid mobile wood dryer is a drying machine for wood that easily moveable and use of hybrid energy sources that is solar energy and heat pump dryer. If daytime at the time of the solar heat radiation is available, the heat source used solar energy in the form of thermal collector. If cloudy or at night, a source of energy for drying used heat pump dryer unit. Change of use energy sources from thermal collector to the heat pump dryer or otherwise happens automatically. The purpose of this research is to perform engineering design of a wood dryers with 1 m3 capacity that energy efficient and easily moveable. The research conducted with tests on heat pump dryer unit with 4 variations of air circulation that is heat-and-vent, open systems, closed system, and semi-open system. Calculation analysis showed that the highest of wood mass decline rate occurs in semi-open system air flow variation then heat-and-vent variation and closed system, and finally open system. The highest COP occurs in closed system variation with the value of 4.8 then open system variation is 4.6, heat-and-vent variation is 3.6 and semi-open system variation is 3.3. The highest average of MER and SMER occurs in the open system variation are 1.113 kg/hr and 0.723 kg/kwh, semi-open system variation are 0.756 kg/hr and 0.202 kg/kwh and closed system variation are 0.307 kg/hr and 0.499 kg/kwh. The drying capacity can accommodate 1 m3 of wet wood and drying time required about two weeks to degrate the moisture content of wood from 24 % to 12% while the drying cost is Rp. 200.000,. On the use of the hybrid mobile wood dryer should close the condenser door top and the evaporator door bottom to produce optimum performance. If the minimum installed electricity capacity is 1,300 Watt, the drying process should use that electricity sources. However, if the electric capacity is not sufficient or there is a power cut, a generator can be used with gasoline or bio-gasoline fuels
